Announced to be in development early this year, Sony is finally speaking about its most recent project, PS4 Project Morpheus. Release date however has not been officially announced, although speculations appear online.

During GDC this year, Sony President Shuhei Yoshida announced the PS4 Project Morpheus saying, "The industry has grown by creating technological advancements for video game players. Advancements that people maybe weren't expecting or thought was possible. [Playstation] is pushing the boundary of play, it's this focus that drives how we innovate and create the experiences we deliver to gamers. Virtual reality is the next innovation from PlayStation that will [shape] the future of games."

He continues on to say, "We believe Morpheus will further enhance the world of PlayStation 4, with seamless integration with PlayStation Camera and PlayStation Move. We will continue to improve on this prototype by gathering feedback from developers."

Specs and features unveiled upon the PS4 Project Morpheus release date show that the virtual reality headset displays a 1080p resolution, equipped with a 90-degree view. A gyroscope and accelerometer sensor and coupled with the PlayStation camera, allows for an accurate head movement and orientation. Upon the PS4 Project Morpheus release date, gamers will experience a 3D audio that enables gamers to hear in all directions as opposed to the usual right-left audio.

Upon the PS4 Project Morpheus release date, gamers will also be able to work with DualShock 4 Wireless Controller for easy plug-and-play use.

Regarding the PS4 Project Morpheus release date, which was originally set for 2014, GameSpot reports that it will likely be moved to a later date - specifics remain unknown.

However, GameSpot directly asked Yoshida on the 2014 release, if PS4 Project Morpheus release date is definitely not 2014, he responds "Yes. That we can say comfortably because we are still making changes to the hardware." In the same interview, Yoshida also explains that PS4 Project Morpheus definitely won't cost $1000, but cheaper, as speculated online.
