Have you ever wondered if Kate Winslet and Leonardo Di Caprio had romantic feelings for each other?
Kate Winslet and Leonardo Di Caprio captured the hearts of many people as Jack and Rose in the iconic 1997 film ‘Titanic’. The pair’s on-screen chemistry was undoubtedly impressive but people wondered if they ever hooked up in real life. Kate Winslet tells it all in an interview with Marie Claire UK (November Issue) on why she never dated the heart throb.
"I think the reason that friendship works is because there was never any romantic thing. It’s so disappointing for people to hear that, because in the soap opera of the Kate and Leo story we fell in love at first sight and had a million snogs, but actually we never did," she told the magazine.
It’s been 17 years since the movie hit the theaters but people are still dreaming of the on-screen couple to actually get together in real life. Though Winslet insists that she and Di Caprio are just the closest of friends.
“He always saw me as one of the boys; I’ve never really been a girly-girl. We needed each other to lean on because we were very young and working all kinds of crazy bloody hours and it was a shock to the system."
Early last year, Jack/Leo went on record and talked about the special connection the two share, “We laugh at the same things. She never lets me take myself seriously, even if I wanted to. We have a special magic.”
Di Caprio is turning 40 this year and Winslet is reaching the big 4-0 in October of next year. She says she’s looking ahead to their next chapter as pals.
