Maroon 5’s New Song Video Of Bloody 'Animals' Sparked Anger From Several Groups

| By

Maroon 5's new video had people voicing out their concerns and sparked anger from several groups. The group's "Animals" video featured lead singer Adam Levine as a stalker and Levine's wife, Behati Prinsloo, as his victim.

The video features the couple having intercourse under a waterfall of blood in one of its scenes. This has been branded "dangerous" by several anti-violence groups. They claim that the video glamourizes violence as well as stalking.

The video was said to be alarming for its "dangerous depiction of a stalker's fantasy" and that it is very irresponsible to depict a criminal act into fun and entertainment. This concern was voiced out by a spokesperson for the Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network (RAINN) in the United States.

Another group who voiced out their concern was the National Sexual Violence Resource Centre in the United States. They labelled the fantasy scene "inappropriate" and Adam seemed to be treating Behati in the music video like a "piece of meat"

The creepy and unsettling video's storyline presents Adam as a butcher before setting his sights on Behati as his victim. In between his 'stalker' moments, the music video cuts to Adam hanging from meat hooks, taking pictures and covered in blood. After Adam eventually followed Behati to a club, the video shows Adam fantasizing about having intercourse with Behati.

Maroon 5 has yet to respond to the comments.

Behati Prinsloo, Adam's wife, on the other hand posted a photo of herself covered in fake blood in Instagram. She added a caption saying, "It's out and its bloody, ready for Halloween"

The video came out about a month ago.

Adam Levine, 35, is an American singer-songwriter and rose to prominence as the lead vocalist for pop rock band Maroon 5. The singer started dating Namibian Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo last May 2012 and announced their engagement last July 2013. The couple got married a year after in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Levine recently revealed that he is very much in love with Behati and that he can't seem to stop using the word 'wife' after they got hitched. According to Adam, "I never really thought I would adore it. It's so trippy. I'm a child. How did this happen? I use that word [wife] right now a lot, I say it for no reason. I say it a lot - 'Wife wife wife,' I love it. I even changed her number in my phone to 'Wife'."
