Do you miss "Twilight" full movie? Good news is, it is set to make a comeback next year.
It has been six years now since the "Twilight" full movie hit the theaters, and now Lions Gate has worked out to rekindle the franchise movie.
According to New York Times, the studio and Stephenie Meyer, the author of the "Twilight" saga, announced on Tuesday their plans of choosing five female directors "to make short films based on 'Twilight' characters".
The short flicks, the report said, will be financed by Lions Gates and production partners and will be shown on Facebook in 2015.
In an interview with Lions Gate's vice chairman Michael Burns, he said: "We think Facebook is a great way for us to introduce the world of 'Twilight' to a whole new audience while re-energizing existing fans."
According to New York Times, "now the savviest studio marketers are using Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube and other online platforms to keep fans on a constant low boil."
Burns added that "this is the just the beginning - a template, if you will. You can probably guess what might be coming next."
The "Twilight" full movie grossed $392.6 million dollar worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo, while the total earnings of the "Twilight" saga worldwide is $3,342.8 billion.
The report also suggested that "the social media service can be more than a platform for movie trailers. Its future may well include the distribution of entire movies."
Kristen Stewart is reportedly part of the panel that will choose the aspiring directors. Along with her are Kate Winslet, Octavia Spencer, Julie Bowen, directors Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) and Jennifer Lee (Frozen), and film producer Cathy Schulman.
Meyer said: "The female voice is something that has become more and more important to me as I've worked in the film industry."
E! News reported the short film series will be dubbed as "The Storytellers-New Creative Voices of The Twilight Saga".
