Are you ready to see how Tom Hiddleston's Hank Williams portrayal will turn out?
To prepare for his role as American country legend Hank Williams, the 'Thor' star has reportedly spent a month of training under another country superstar, Rodney Crowell.
According to Crowell, the British actor had been working hard to get his characterization for the biopic just right despite getting some criticism from Williams' fans and family for the casting choice.
To Crowell's eyes, however, Hiddleston is just the perfect man to play the legendary American singer!
The 'Avengers' star went through some major physical changes for the role. He lost a lot of weight to resemble the country legend, underwent dialect lessons to speak with a country twang, and jumped headlong into singing lessons. He even learned "the mystery of [yodelling] the blues, hillbilly style" according to Crowell.
Crowell's long account on Facebook about his time honing Tom Hiddleston to become Hank Williams gave fans and critics a glimpse into the actor's hardwork.
The Hollywood heartthrob is reporetedly "finding his way into the heart of one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time."
The country superstar added that "the classically trained British actor" immediately joined a performance for the Wheatland Music Festival just a day after arriving in Nashville. When he was asked to perform 'I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry,' which he was practicing on the bus, he had reportedly surprised Crowell by agreeing right away. And he didn't disappoint.
He "[skilfully] performed the tune before what must have been 1500 people."
"Later that night, with my band on the main stage, and with very little urging from me, he rendered a joyful version of 'Move It On Over,'" Crowell recalled.
Despite Tom Hiddleston's Hank Williams transformation being so gruelling, the actor still kept to the rigid regimen. Hiddleston's typical day during the training can be read in Crowell's account in Facebook.
"After nearly a month spent collaborating with this gifted artist, I'm as respectful of the man's work ethic as I'm mystified by his transformational skills," the country crooner concluded. "Without a doubt, the filmmakers chose the right actor for the job."
Do you think Crowell is right? Is Tom Hiddleston the right man to portray the greatest American country singer?
