The man behind Kanye West's 'Graduation artwork, Producer Takashi Murakami, has also been working on another American hip hop artist's music video!
The world-class Japanese animator made an anime world exclusively for Pharrell's 'It Girl' video.
Despite being busy with his 'The Voice' season 7 coaching gig, the Grammy Award-winning artist was still able to release his new high-concept clip as a sort of closing for his hit album 'Girl.'
In the 'It Girl' music video, the 'Happy' hitmaker appears as a character and a player in the Sega-like clip, following around a cute animated girl.
He stalks her during a night time stroll on the beach and just had to use his iconic hat to produce fireworks and magical flowers for the girl. That was a hilariously perfect touch for the acclaimed singer.
Another comical part was the shot of Pharrell, Murakami and a dog on Mount Rushmore as the producer brings along the girl and her friends on an interstellar trip shooting sushi and a giant girl's head.
According to Rolling Stone, Pharrell's 'It Girl' could very well be his third hit off his album, 'Girl.'
The feel good song 'Happy' sat comfortably on top of the charts for a long time. It also earned the artist an OST award nomination from the Oscars for 'Despicable Me 2.'
The second single,'Come Get It Bae,' which featured Miley Cyrus' vocals, also climbed different kinds of digital rankings
Rolling Stone even gave 'Girl' its first four-star album rating for the year.
"'Girl' is a simple, even slight record. And that's definitely meant as a compliment," the Rolling Stone review, written by Jon Dolan, read.
Dolan also added, "Everyone in pop owes him a favor, but the superstar cameos are few and easefully turned: There's Timberlake harmonizing on the mirror-ball fantasia 'Brand New,' and there are the robots of Daft Punk vocoding along to the spiraling astral-groove come-on 'Gust of Wind.'"
He explained further, "The music is just as uncluttered as the track list, riding the light, euphoric vibe Pharrell established on the album's Number One hit, 'Happy.' The only requirement for getting into this club is admitting your own joy."
