Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, have managed to be "best friends" amid reports that the actress was shocked at her estranged husband's plan of introducing their children to his rumored girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence.
After the former couple's "conscious uncoupling" early this year, they have maintained their good relationship for the good of their children. It was reported that Chris has been giving his weekends to his eight-year-old son Moses and ten-year-old daughter Apple.
To support this notion of being on good terms, Chris has reportedly attended his estranged wife's 42nd birthday celebration at Gwyneth's California house, wherein the musician has been said to arrive early.
According to a source of Page Six, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin "were very friendly to each other. It was like they're still best friends."
In a report by E! News, Gwyneth's birthday bash became star-studded, but it was not confirmed if the Coldplay front man stayed to party with the guests, who included Maya Rudolph, Jennifer Meyer, Tobey Maguire, Kate Hudson, among others.
While Chris is dating the "Hunger Games" actress, it was reported that Gwyneth is allegedly dating Glee producer Brad Falchuk.
In August, People reported that these "long-time friends reportedly vacationed in Utah".
An observer told the magazine: "They were very friendly and sat at a communal table. Gwyneth looked pretty with very little makeup. She seemed very comfortable with Brad. They definitely looked like they were on a date."
But a Hollywood insider revealed to British magazine Grazia that the "Iron Man 3" actress's close relationship with her estranged husband may be causing some strain to Gwyneth and Brad's blossoming relationship.
"This conscious uncoupling might be great for Gwyneth and Chris' relationship but it's not doing them any favours when it comes to their individual love lives," the insider said.
"Brad cares about Gwyneth a lot, but it's really difficult for him playing second fiddle to Chris."
