George Clooney's wedding finally took place earlier this week, although not a lot has been revealed about who exactly is Mrs Amal Alamuddin-Clooney.

A report from The Independent has listed fast facts about Amal Alamuddin, who has captured the heart of who used to be the most eligible bachelor in Hollywood.

Born Amal Ramzi Alamuddin, the British-Lebanese human rights lawyer is based in London, where she is also an activist and a lawyer.

She is considered as an expert in Middle Eastern affairs and has been named one of the world's leading counsels on the said subject matter.

The new wife of George Clooney has also represented some of the most renowned names in international current affairs, such as former Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, the King of Bahrain, and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.

According to The Independent, some of the topics she has tackled as counsel to the United Nations included the use of drones. She was also involved with matters regarding Syria as the adviser of UN Special Envoy Kofi Annan.

Amal Alamuddin has also published numerous articles regarding international criminal law. The published author also edited" The Law and Practice of the Special Tribunal" for Lebanon.

According to a report from CNN, George Clooney's wedding to Amal Alamuddin was held in Venice, Italy last weekend.

The groom arrived by motorboat at the Aman Canal Grande Venice resort. The venue is housed in the 16th-century Palazzo Papadopoli.

Locals cheered "George, auguri" as George Clooney waved to his guests and on-lookers.

Anna Wintour, Cindy Crawford, and Matt Damon were among the first to arrive in Venice for George Clooney's star-studded wedding, said CNN. The high-profile guest list gathered photographers and reporters on the docks facing the Aman Canal Grande, where attendees arrived via taxi boats.

The actor announced the wedding venue just weeks before the event while at a celebrity charity function in Tuscany, Italy. According to People magazine, George Clooney was at the event to accept a humanitarian award and shared during his acceptance speech: "I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, whom I will be marrying, in a couple of weeks, in Venice, of all places."
