| By

The True Detective Season 2 latest news has been revealed, and it features a slightly unlikely one.

It has been reported by The Epoch Times that Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch are set to join in on the cast, and among the options before they scored in on McAdams, were Elisabeth Moss, Jessica Biel, and Mali Akerman:

"Variety reported recently, citing sources, that HBO has actually offered the role to McAdams, while Taylor Kitsch is expected to land the fourth lead."

As previously reported, Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey has left a legacy with their previous portrayal of Detectives Martin Hart and Rustin Cohle, respectively, and the anticipation as to who will be starring in the second season has been one of the hottest news of the series to date.

Actors Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers), and Colin Farrell (Dead Man Down) are confirmed to replace Woody and Matthew after their incredible perfomance, and the two can't be more excited about announcing the news.

According to USMagazine:

"The news of Farrell's inclusion was first made public on Sunday, Sept. 21, when the actor, 38, let slip that he is in the critically acclaimed program. "I'm doing the second series," he told the Irish paper The Sunday World. "I'm so excited," adding that he will shoot eight episodes over the course of four or five months.

Vaughn, 44, was added to the lineup as Farrell's costar. The two men replace season one actors Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

HBO also announced on Tuesday that The Fast and the Furious director Justin Lin will helm the first two episodes of the season, which focuses on 'three police officers and a career criminal [who] must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.'

Farrell will play a detective named Ray Velcoro, while Vaughn will take on the criminal role of Frank Semyon. The Emmy-winning show is rumored to return for its second season in mid-2015."

The True Detective Season 2 latest news announcement has been long-awaited by fans, and now that it has been revealed, some are very happy, while others don't seem to be. Some fans are rooting for Colin Farrell, and are a little surprised for the producers to cast Vince Vaughn, saying that he doesn't really fit the role he's about to portray. This sentiment is probably due to the fact that Vaughn has been in numerous movies, but almost never plays the role of a serious character.
