After breaking his leg during a scrimmage for the US National basketball team, health experts said that Paul George might not be able to play for the whole season. The freaky accident has caused PG13's leg to snap, something that is a little bit similar to the infamous injury suffered by college player Kevin Ware. Marc J Spears of Yahoo reported that the Indiana Pacers star need to sit down for one year but things isn't like what experts predicted. The Paul George return could come earlier than expected.
From Pacers.com, the 24-year old small forward said that he might make an earlier return, probably on or before the playoffs.
"Everything happens for a reason," George said. "It gave me a chance to be in the weight room and spend some time there. I've got to use this as a blessing. It's tough to say you got hurt for a reason, but I honestly think I did. Now everything is starting to come back for me. I'm feeling great. I've been cleared to be in the weight room and work out. That's been keeping me positive and sane."
"It's very possible that I can play (this season)," George said. "I've talked to all the guys and said, 'Man, you guys have to get in the playoffs. That's the best chance I've got of coming back and playing this year.' I've already got it in mind that I could miss this whole year. I'm come to peace with that, but I'd love to be able to come back and play again."
Early Paul George return isn't something expected by many. Since Los Angeles star Kobe Bryant took more than one season to repair his knee and Achilles injury, it is automatic to think that George will be gone for a while since his injury is much more severe.
Optimism is a great weapon but in all fairness, Paul George's return and road to recovery has a long way to go. If he'll stick to the program, he will be playing basketball again in the soonest possible time. If not...think of what happened to Derrick Rose.
