'Nixie' a wearable drone camera is one of the finalists in Intel's Make It Wearable.
It's been part of everyone's day to day activity to snap a 'decent' photo to uploading in social networking sites. Selfie or self portrait photo had become viral and even considered a disorder if a person takes 'selfies' several times a day. But sometimes there are scenarios that you wish someone could take a photo for you.
'Nixie' wearable drone camera might be just right for you. Its is a wearable camera that can be worn on your wrist and can actually fly. Unbelievable, right? But it yes it can fly and launches off your wrist to take photos beyond your reach.
This might be the next generation camera. It is perfect for aerila photography as you will no longer go to higher places to snap a good view.
According DailyMail," When the wearer wants it to start filming, they press a button and the drone unfolds and flies overhead, tracking their movements using motion sensors."
"The drone then returns to the wearer's wrist, which could be controlled using a timer, or summoned using gestures."
The first wearable drone was developed by by Dr Christoph Kohstall, a physics researcher at Stanford University, with colleagues Jelena Jovanovic and Michael Niedermayr.
The winner of Intel's Make It Wearable will take home $500,00 cash price, and the winner will be announced on November 11. Currently, there 10 finalists in the said competition.
It is also rumored that the Nixie drone wearable camera can be connected to a smartphone or can also be controlled on hand gestures.
The drone is still a concept and no specs has been released though it might have a panorama and selfie options.
The Nixie Team already received $50,000 and all of the mentorship, design help, and technical support a company like Intel can throw at them in order to make it real.
