A live action Disney movie "Cinderella" is on the works! With a 2015 release date, cast updates and other latest news have been leaked online.
Charles Perrault's "Cinderella" has been set for screen adaption since 2010, right after Walt Disney's successful partnership with Tim Burton in "Alice in Wonderland". Ranking as the 17th highest grossing film worldwide according to Box Office Mojo, Disney has been inspired to adapt classic fairy tales to retell the audience as today's production is able to manufacture impeccable CGI animation together with live action.
The film was originally set to be directed by notable music video director Mark Romanek, known for his work in Michael and Janet Jackson's "Scream" video, as well as Madonna's "Bedtime Story."
However, due to differences in the creative process, Sir Kenneth Branagh has been officially set on the director's chair for "Cinderella" 2015. Cast and release dates have also been revealed. Working with Branagh is Christ Weitz and Simon Kinberg as scriptwriter and producer, respectively.
The stellar cast members for "Cinderella" 2015 cast and release date include Cate Blanchett who will play Lady Tremaine, Richard Madden as Prince Charming, Holliday Grainger as Anastasia, Sophie McShera as Drizella, Helena Bonhan Carter as the Fairy Godmother, Stellan Skarsgard as the Grand Duke, and Lily James as Cinderella.
The 25-year-old English actress is known for her work in as Lady Rose MacClare in "Downton Abbey". Apart from television, she has also appeared in the "Wrath of the Titans" as Korrina and "Fast Girls" as Lisa Temple both in 2012.
Originally, Variety reports that Emma Watson was casted for the role of Cinderella however due to conflict with a reported live-action adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast", the "Harry Potter" heroine decided to opt out the project. Saoirse Ronan ("Atonement"), Gabriella Wilde ("Endless Love"), and Alicia Vikander ("Anna Karenina") were initially set for the role but also chose other projects over "Cinderella" 2015 cast and release date.
