Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban released a joint statement about the death of Kidman's father, psychologist Dr. Antony Kidman.
"We would just like to thank everyone for their love and prayers over these past couple of weeks. We are all heartbroken but knowing we are in the hearts and thoughts of others is so comforting, Sending love, Nic and Keith xx," the couple posted both on their Facebook pages.
Dr. Anthony Kidman was a clinical psychologist at the University of Technology in Sydney Australia. He was often heard in the radio and read in magazine columns giving advice on everyday life.
Dr. Kidman died after a fall in his hotel after breakfast when he was visiting Kidman's sister, Antonia, who lives in Singapore with her husband and six kids.
Nicole Kidman was reportedly in Nashville at the time of her father's death.
According to the report by TMZ, Keith Urban canceled a charity performance in Los Angeles to fly back to Nicole when the news broke.
Keith was set to play a big-ticket charity event at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, CA; a show he was doing as a favor for his friend and longtime Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich.
"American Idol" alum Adam Lambert, filled in for Urban's vacant place as a judge in the traveling auditions for the show in New York.
"American Idol" shared the news via twitter.
Lambert is judging the callback auditon alongside Jennifer Lopes and Harry Connick Jr. He also mentored the contestants from the show's season 13 with fellow "Idol" alum Chris Daughtry.
"Nicole and her family are in shock by the sudden death of her father," Kidman's rep told "The Hollywood Reporter" in a statement at the time. "She appreciates the outpouring of support and kindly requests privacy during this very difficult time. Thank you."
