Bath & Body Works, a popular fragrance store, faces a class action lawsuit over an alleged privacy breach.
As part of the settlement, shoppers who bought fan-favorite items may receive vouchers. This settlement aims to compensate affected customers for the privacy issues they experienced.
Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret Face Privacy Breach Lawsuit
In a class action lawsuit, plaintiffs have accused Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret of violating the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act by issuing receipts that showed more than the last five digits of customers' card numbers, as Top Class Action revealed.
Customers argued that these receipts exposed their personal information to potential risks.
A VERIFY reader named Candi inquired whether an email they received regarding a Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works settlement was genuine. Indeed, there is an ongoing settlement involving both companies.
There is a proposed settlement worth up to $15 million with Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret at its center. Customers have accused both companies of breaching the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, enacted in 2003 to protect consumers using credit or debit cards.
Notably, both companies operated under the same parent company until they separated in 2021.

Eligibility Criteria for Settlement Vouchers
According to The U.S. Sun, shoppers seeking payment from the Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, and PINK settlement must meet certain criteria. Firstly, an item must have been purchased at one of these stores between May 10, 2021, and August 8, 2021.
Additionally, customers must have received a printed receipt during this period, although they do not need to present this receipt to receive payment.
Those who made eligible purchases and submitted a claim can receive a $15 voucher, which can be used for future purchases at the respective stores. Customers who purchased at all three stores are eligible for two vouchers, one from Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret.
An exception exists for customers who used a Victoria's Secret or Bath & Body Works branded credit card. These customers will automatically receive a $5 voucher added to their account and are not required to file a claim to benefit from this arrangement.
Consumers who did not use a store-branded card and failed to submit a claim form will not receive a voucher. To receive their vouchers, eligible class members must submit a claim form by July 16.
Meanwhile, Top Class Action reminded applicants that submitting a claim for the settlement is done under the penalty of perjury. Submitting a fraudulent claim breaches legal standards and harms other eligible class members who are rightfully due compensation.
Individuals uncertain about their qualification status should consult the FAQ section on the Settlement Administrator's website to confirm they meet all required standards.
For those not eligible for this settlement, a database of other open class action settlements is available for review to explore potential eligibility.
Class action lawsuits allow large groups of individuals to take joint legal action. These lawsuits are typically initiated by a few individuals who claim that a company has harmed many people similarly.
Once certified as a class action, the lawsuit includes all affected individuals as class members. Companies frequently settle these cases by compensating class members, who often agree not to pursue further legal action.
Common issues leading to class actions include pollution, discrimination, and false advertising. Companies usually settle to avoid the high costs of ongoing lawsuits.
