Customers are encouraged to grab big deals at a well-known music store chain that is shutting down.

Just weeks ago, Sam Ash Music Store announced it would close all 44 locations across the United States. Now, the stores offer major discounts as they close their doors for good.

Sam Ash Music Store Closes After Century

Sam Ash, known as "The World's Favorite Music Store," is closing after a century of operation.

According to FOX61, the company, family-owned since its inception, began closing sales at all locations on May 2. In a message shared on Instagram, the Ash family expressed their gratitude to customers for their support over the years.

They acknowledged the privilege of serving musicians and conveyed their love and deep appreciation.

The first Sam Ash store opened in 1924 in Brooklyn, New York, founded by Sam Ash, an immigrant violinist. The business has stayed within the family and is carried by Ash's grandson, described on the company's website as "obsessed with guitars."

Shoppers looking for music-related items such as hardware, printed music, and audio equipment must find alternatives as Sam Ash Music Store closes its doors unexpectedly.

The sudden shutdowns were a surprise to both shoppers and employees. Reports indicate that both groups were caught off guard by the abrupt news.

An employee from the Clearwater, Florida, location mentioned that the closure news seemed to come without any prior warning, as reported by Patch.

The anonymous worker noted that due to management's instructions not to speak with the press, confirmed to Patch that the store was closing.

The employee said he was unexpectedly informed that he would lose his job despite having just received a promotion. He expressed that the closure was completely unexpected.

He also mentioned that the specifics of the closure timeline were unclear, but currently, everything in the store is available for sale.

Similarly, Elliot Wiess, the manager at the Philadelphia Mills store, expressed to the Philadelphia Enquirer his shock over the announcement. He had believed his job at the store was a long-term position.

Sam Ash Music Store has begun liquidating all its stores following a recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, per The U.S. Sun.

The decision to liquidate was confirmed shortly after the bankruptcy announcement. This process involves clearing out all store items unrelated to music. Across different locations, the closing sales have varied, with discounts ranging from 10 to 50 percent.

In Dallas, Texas, for instance, photographs from the local Sam Ash Music Store show significant markdowns. PenUltimate Consulting, an asset liquidation company, highlighted on Facebook that everything must go, including store fixtures, equipment, and all merchandise. They urged customers to act quickly to take advantage of these deals.

It remains unclear how long the closing sale will last. As of Monday, the Facebook page for the Dallas store listed it as "Closed Now," indicating that some locations might already be winding down operations.

Sam Ash Music Store joins Rue21 and Express in liquidation amid closures. Rue21 is closing all 540 stores following a May bankruptcy filing, while Express is shuttering 54 stores. Both are holding liquidation sales as they wind down operations, reflecting ongoing struggles in the retail sector.
