'The Simpsons' Season 26 Premiere: reveals the death of an unexpected character.

Last night Fox's American animated sitcom premiered its 26th season. It revealed that Krusty's father, Rabbi Hyman Krustofsky, (voiced by Jackie Mason, who won an Emmy for the role in 1992), died.

The televiewers expected that Krusty The Clown might die, because in its episode 'Clowns in the Dumps' aired Sunday, September 28 in the United States.

Rabbi died painless as he was talking to his son in about seven minutes and told him Krusty: "If you want to know my honest opinion of you, you've always been... eh," as Krusty was going through a crisis in his career.

Fans described the announcement that someone will die in the 26th season as fans expected that Krusty will die. Krusty had depicted a terrible life over the past seasons, and as he's a heavy drinker and smoker, and is often portrayed as having a hard, cynical outlook on life.

Al Jean, executive producer, told HollywoodReporter last summer that.

"I wanted to make sure people knew what we were trying to do is an emotional episode," he told The Hollywood Reporter.

"I didn't say I was killing Krusty...I didn't say I wasn't,"

The excutive producer also predicted that the announcement of a characteer will die might be 'overhyped'.

" He did, however, agree that the character was indeed beloved.", reports say.

"He (Rabbi Hyman) is beloved. Jackie Mason is wonderful. And he's still with us. Secondly, we're not the kind of show that does these really horrific things to its characters. Everybody loves these characters, and I would never kill Krusty," the executive producer added.

Al also revealed that Rabbi is not coming back from the dead, but talked about a possibility that one can come back from the dead, like Brian from Family Guy; but firmly said it wont happen

"Well, when we kill them, they stay dead. That's my motto," Al revealed. "But, you know, in animation you can certainly have somebody remember somebody else or fantasize or have a dream about them, so I wouldn't rule that out."

"But we're not going to do what they did with Brian. It's not going to - a time machine or something that solves the problem and he or she is back as a living character."
