Nordstrom Rack will close several of its stores nationwide for one day. This move is part of a larger trend of many businesses closing their doors on Easter Sunday.
Stores Close for Easter Observance
The discount clothing store plans to close its doors on March 31, 2024, to mark the Easter holiday.
Easter, a Christian holiday celebrated by many in the United States, prompts numerous businesses to shut their doors despite not being a national holiday. Several Nordstrom Rack stores will be closed this year in observance of Easter. However, it remains uncertain whether this closure includes every Nordstrom Rack location.
The U.S. Sun tried to contact Nordstrom Rack directly to obtain a clear answer. However, a customer service representative from Nordstrom Rack could not confirm the closure of all its stores for the holiday.
Despite this, lists show that Nordstrom Rack locations across different areas will be closed.
To avoid inconvenience, customers are advised to check with their local Nordstrom Rack store to ensure it will be open on Easter Sunday.
Nordstrom Rack, famous for offering designer clothing at discounted prices, provides shoppers with bargains of up to 70% off, as stated on the company's website.
Unlike its parent company, Nordstrom, known for selling luxury items at higher prices, Nordstrom Rack appeals to bargain hunters looking for high-end fashion at lower costs. Despite this, shoppers might not find any deals in-store today, as most locations are closed.
Nordstrom Rack is not the only store taking a break today.
Clothing retailer Burlington announced on its company blog that it would be closed. The blog post shared, "Burlington cares about its team. We are closed for Easter, allowing our staff to take a break and spend time with their loved ones."
Local store chains across the region are joining in by closing their doors as well.

Nordstrom Rack Expands Amid Discount Boom
As American consumers continue to adjust to higher prices, the appeal of discounts has never been more enticing. This trend has proven beneficial for off-price retailers such as T.J. Maxx and Ross, known for their year-round sales.
In 2024, Nordstrom is strategically expanding its Nordstrom Rack division to capture more of this discount-seeking market. New stores will open in Nebraska, Tennessee, Texas, and Indiana.
The question remains, however, whether these new Nordstrom Rack locations can offer the same treasure-hunt experience that has made other off-price stores so popular among bargain hunters.
Nordstrom Rack finds itself at a crossroads, combining the allure of discount pricing with the prestigious Nordstrom brand. However, Mark Cohen from Columbia Business School is skeptical about the strategy's effectiveness. "I don't believe you can have it both ways," he stated, highlighting the challenge of maintaining a high-end brand while attracting customers to a lower-priced off-price store.
This sentiment is echoed by the observation that even well-off customers, traditionally the main audience for Nordstrom, are increasingly turning to Nordstrom Rack for bargains.
Jessica Ramirez, an analyst at Jane Hali & Associates, pointed out that as people become more budget-conscious, they are more inclined to explore off-price options, a trend she refers to as the "trade-down effect."
However, successfully operating in the off-price sector requires a unique approach, one that Ramirez suggests may be more challenging for a company like Nordstrom, which traditionally plans its inventory far in advance.
Off-price stores thrive by being agile, buying stock closer to the season, and staying in tune with consumer demands. This strategy has led to their success in a competitive retail environment.
