Burger King Launches $1 Million Whopper Challenge
Meanwhile, Burger King invites its fans to get creative and potentially win a $1 million prize by inventing a new version of the iconic Whopper sandwich. This contest marks the first time the fast-food giant allows its customers to play a direct role in designing the sandwich, which first debuted in 1957.
In a press release on February 5, the Florida-based chain called out to all "flame-grilled fanatics, culinary creators, and A.I. aficionados" to share their unique ideas for the Whopper.
"How would you top your Whopper?" Burger King asked, highlighting that the current Whopper offers over 200,000 possible customizations. They encouraged participants to think outside the box, whether with savory additions or unique sweet and sour combinations.
Those interested in taking on this flavorful challenge can visit Burger King's website to enter the contest.
Burger King offers customers a unique opportunity to design their dream Whopper, with a chance to win $1 million. Participants can visit the company's website and use prompts to customize a Whopper with up to eight toppings. However, they must have a Royal Perks account to enter the contest.
The competition runs from Monday until March 17. Three finalists will be chosen and invited to Burger King's headquarters in Miami from the entries. Here, they will fine-tune their Whopper creations before these are featured on menus nationwide for a limited time later in the year.
Customers will then try these three Whopper versions and vote for their favorite. The creator of the Whopper with the most votes will win the $1 million prize.
Interestingly, the contest also incorporates artificial intelligence (AI). After submitting their Whopper idea, participants will receive an AI-generated preview of their creation. They can enhance this with a personalized AI-generated jingle and a thematic background, as explained by Burger King.
