Super Bowl star Malcolm Jenkins is moving into the fast-casual food world. In a talk with WHYY News, Philadelphia's public media, Jenkins shared his business goals.

He said these goals led him to leave a chance at $6 million in the NFL in 2022.

Jenkins explained that he chose a different path, unlike many players whose careers end due to contracts, injuries, or team decisions.

Malcolm Jenkins: Confidence is His Ability

In an interview with WHYY News, Malcolm Jenkins, former NFL star, expressed his gratitude for his successful transition from football to business. "I felt confident in my ability to survive and my acumen, so that's a blessing," Jenkins stated.

Jenkins started showing his business talent during his NFL days. In 2013, he created Rock Avenue Bow Ties, as reported by The Columbus Dispatch, and later opened Damari, a physical retail store, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit even while he was still in the league.

Moreover, his website indicates that he has significantly diversified his business interests. His impressive portfolio now includes media, fashion, technology, the restaurant industry, and real estate ventures.

A notable aspect of his business empire is Disrupt Foods. This venture specializes in developing and managing multiple fast-food franchises, including well-known names like Papa John's and Wingstop. Over 20 quick-service restaurants are part of this initiative.

Disrupt Foods focuses on fostering ownership opportunities for minority communities, a mission Jenkins emphasizes on his website.

Jenkins has big plans for Disrupt Foods. He wants to be the best Black-owned franchisee in the fast food business across the country. Jenkins talked to WHYY News about how NFL players can use franchising to their advantage.

He stressed how important it is to have a strong team running things. He also clarified that his main job is not to do day-to-day tasks like making pizzas but to keep an eye on the big picture and create a winning business plan.

The former Philadelphia Eagles and two-time Super Bowl winner arrived early for his interview with WHYY News to discuss his book, "What Winners Won't Tell You."

In the interview, Jenkins identified himself as an author, then a business owner, philanthropist, former athlete, and father. However, this sequence may not fully reflect his life's priorities; instead, it reflects what came to mind.

Malcolm Jenkins has focused heavily on self-reflection and recognizing his value. He's actively using the skills he gained and isn't hesitant to seek help for his weaknesses.

Jenkins noted that people often don't spend enough time assessing their resources and maximizing their potential. This self-evaluation approach changed his career path significantly, giving a new direction and energy to his journey as an athlete.

In his book "What Winners Won't Tell You," he shares lessons from his triumphs and challenges. He details highs such as being the only NFL player with Super Bowl wins against famous quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

However, Jenkins also opens up about personal lows, including his divorce. The book also covers his role in advocating for Black Americans and the conflicts he faced in this journey. Jenkins provides a candid look into the varying aspects of his life, both on and off the field.
