The latest action-packed Denzel Washington thriller dominated the Box Office this weekend along side Hollywood's new It Girl Chloe Moretz.
There was no surprise when Washington, marked as a very marketable asset for movie productions, headlining an action film, will bring in millions of sales.
"The Equalizer" brought in an estimated $35 million over the first weekend.
The film sold out well in the overseas markets as well earning $17.8 million taking the film's worldwide total gross to $52.8 million thus far.
Gross earnings may not be outrageous; "The Equalizer" is $8 million higher than the latest Washington film "2 Guns", which opened to $27 million.
Going down a spot from last week is the dystopian sci-fi adventure "The Maze Runner." The film took in an additional $17.5 million over the weekend taking the domestic gross to $58 million.
The film is a hit in the international audience at the film brought over $90 million, which makes the worldwide gross to $148.7 million.
Debuting in the third spot this weekend is the animated adventure movie "The Boxtrolls".
The film about a family of "trolls'" journey into the outside world of their sewer brought in an estimated $17.25 million in the domestic theaters and $17.7 million oversees, which takes the worldwide gross to $34.95 million.
Falling to the fourth spot is comedy flick "This is where I Leave You," which brought in an additional $7 million over the weekend and takes the domestic gross to $22.6 million.
Finishing off the Top 5 at the Box Office this weekend is the family-friendly live-action adventure Dolphin Tale 2. The film brought in an estimated $4.8 million over the weekend, which raises Dolphin Tale 2's three-week domestic gross to $33.7 million.
Upcoming next week are animated superhero movie "Batman VS Superman: Dawn of Justice," drama thriller starring Ben Affleck "Gone Girl," "The Conjuring" prequel "Annabelle," and action movie starring Nicholas Cage "Left Behind."
