Carlo Ancelotti said in a Real Madrid roster news that he is not worried about the transfer rumors surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo, but Manchester United is still interested in re-acquiring the superstar.
Recent reports indicated that Ronaldo is interested in returning to Old Trafford where he played from 2003-2009 before Manchester United sold him to Real Madrid for a then-record fee of £80 million.
When asked about the recent Real Madrid roster rumors, Ancelotti insisted that all reports about Ronaldo's possible return to Manchester United are "nonsense."
"Cristiano is happy here, very motivated to be here, and all madridismo is delighted with him, so these reports are nonsense," Ancelotti said via ESPN FC.
The Italian coach expects Ronaldo to stay at Camp Nou in the next several years, saying that the Portugal international will help Los Blancos win more silverware in the coming seasons.
"He is the best player in the world, without doubt, and has been for a long time," Ancelotti said of Ronaldo. "He has been showing great professionalism, character and leadership. We must enjoy him and do everything to keep him in this physical and mental condition -- as he will help us to win trophies."
Multiple Real Madrid roster rumors suggested on Friday that Manchester United will have to spend as much as £140 million pounds if they want to acquire Ronaldo.
Sources said that Real Madrid will likely demand for a fee around £60 million and the Red Devils will also have to pay the 29-year-old around £80 million over the next five seasons.
Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal has shown that he is not afraid to break the bank after making lucrative deals to acquire Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao this season.
Van Gaal, who is aiming to help Manchester United regain their old glory, recently said that they will definitely make a run at acquiring Ronaldo if he becomes available on the transfer market.
A source close to the situation recently told Goal.com that Ronaldo is indeed interested in finishing his career at the Old Trafford.
"Cristiano talks about United all the time," the source was quoted as saying. "The club had a difficult time last season, but he expects them to return to the top very soon. He is seduced by the idea of finishing his career at Old Trafford. He has great memories - it was his happiest time as a footballer."
