Apple Users Are Shocked: Does The iPhone 6 Really Bend?

| By

Apple has yet to face another issue regarding their latest model, the iPhone 6.

The new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus is made from aluminum shells for lightness, and apparently, it has lived up to that other characteristic of aluminum: malleability. It has been spreading on social networking sites that Apple's new product which was launched just this September can actually bend. One product reviewer posted a video on YouTube showing how the larger frame can bend and stories from other users have been popping out.

By Thursday, the tech company has been doing damage control on what was known as "BendGate" which has been trending on Twitter for the past two days. According to reports from the Daily Mail, Apple said that nine people have contacted them to complain about their devices.

Apple released a statement on the same day saying, "with normal use, a bend in iPhone is extremely rare and through our first six days of sale, a total of nine customers have contacted Apple with a bent iPhone 6 Plus," Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller said in an email.

Apple said its iPhones feature stainless steel and titanium inserts to reinforce high-stress locations and use the strongest glass in the smartphone industry.

The only way an iPhone may have bent is if someone put it in their back pocket and sat on the phone for a very long time, said Laban Roomes, chief executive of Goldgenie, which customizes and gold plates iPhones.

Even with this issue rising, The Wall Street Journal stated in an article that the company sold more than ten million iPhones in its first week of availability.
