The battle for the best coach is on for 'The Voice' season 7!
Mainstay coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine faced some very tough competition in the first two episodes of the show.
New coaches Gwen Stefani and Pharell Williams didn't cower from the experience of both veteran coaches. Instead, they dove head-on into the fight - cajoling, praising, and convincing talented contestants to join their respective teams.
During the premiere episode, Entertainment Weekly even dubbed Pharell as the "most convincing coach." With his chill vibes, he sweet talked possible team members into joining his group. He even namedropped some of his famous friends.
He told his first team member, Luke Wade, "I know a thing or two about blue-eyed soul. You can ask Justin. You can ask Robin."
Gwen Stefani, meanwhile, didn't let herself be overwhelmed by all the testosterone in the room. She was, after all, the only girl member in 'No Doubt.' When faced with female contestants, she advertised her clothing lines, convincing them that she'll understand them because she's "just a girl."
The newly married Adam Levine, on the other hand, scaled his seat to express his awe for one contestant, prompting EW to call him the "most desperate coach" for 'The Voice' season 7. By the second night, he was back to his usual bantering with Blake Shelton for potential team members.
Meanwhile, Shelton took to calling Pharell "boo" without actually understanding the entire meaning of the word.
Nevertheless, the coaches tried to charm their way by saying nice things to the contestants.
On the second episode, Pharell proved his Mr. Nice Guy persona by comparing his "scrawny" self to Levine's fit body. He won over R&B singer Danica Shirey but insisting that he knows "what to do with that voice."
