His speech about climate change and its imminent danger impressed leaders all over the world at the UN Climate Summit 2014, but it was Leonardo DiCaprio's Instagram post that had fans rejoicing.
The 'Wolf Of Wall Street' star is one of the few remaining actors in Hollywood who opted to stay away from social media to protect his private life.
However, his recent appointment as a UN Climate Change Ambassador seemed to have changed his mind. Social media, after all, is the best platform for awareness and activism in today's world.
On Tuesday, he shared his thoughts on the urgency of climate change and its implications to our planet and ultimately, our future, to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, climate experts and world leaders at the UN New York Headquarters.
'This is not a partisan debate; it is a human one," he addressed the assembly that morning. "Clean air and water, and a livable climate, are inalienable human rights. And solving this crisis is not a question of politics. It is our moral obligation - if, admittedly, a daunting one."
Before stepping off the platform, he gave everyone the "daunting" thought: "None of this is rhetoric, and none of it is hysteria. It is fact."
Later that day, a photo was also uploaded on Leonardo DiCaprio's Instagram account and it's not some throwback picture to one of his movies. Instead, he stood beside one of the most powerful leaders in the world.
He captioned the photo: "Today, I have the privilege to speak at the United Nations #Climate2014 Summit where world leaders are expected to announce the bold steps they will take to tackle climate change. Thank you Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon."
He has also uploaded a photo of himself with "#climatechange pioneer" Former US Vice President Al Gore.
The 39-year-old star was also awarded by the Clinton Foundation on Sunday for his longstanding activism for environmental preservation. Present in the event were other stars who are known for their nature-friendly advocacies.
He created the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation in 1998, which aims to preserve the world's remaining wildlife and promote a harmonious relationship between mankind and nature.
