Forbes revealed in a New York Yankees news and rumors that the final home game of Derek Jeter on Thursday could be the most expensive regular season game ever.
Jeter will be playing in his final home game at the Yankee Stadium when the Yankees collide with the Baltimore Orioles. And based on initial projection, the Yankees-Orioles match could be the most expensive regular season match even if the Yanks are already out of contention.
"While Derek's Jeter's last game at Yankee Stadium Thursday night likely won't have any impact on the 2014 baseball season, it will be the most expensive regular season game over the last four years, and more expensive than all but a handful of post-season games," Forbes projected in a New York Yankees news and rumors update. "It may also be the most expensive regular season game ever."
According to Forbes, the average price of tickets for Jeter's final home game is currently at $845 each with the cheapest ticket priced at $362. Ticket prices for Yankees' previous matches went down when the club's hope of reaching the playoffs got dimmer, but the ticket price for their superstar's final home game went unchanged.
Jeter, who will go out as the most famous Yankees player of all time, has endured both memorable and painful memories in New York. And before he gets out of the spotlight, Jeter offered some piece of advice to his fellow New York star - Eli Manning of the NY Giants.
Manning, who has spent his entire 11-year NFL career with the Giants, is being doubted for his performance with most fans and analysts saying that the age is catching up with the quarterback.
When asked to give an advice for Manning, Jeter said in a New York Yankees news and rumors update that the veteran QB should stay positive and avoid reading newspapers.
"Don't read the papers, don't listen to it. That's the bottom line. Stay positive," Jeter said. "That's the only way you can deal with it. It's tough. It's tough to avoid it, because you're constantly asked questions about it. So you know the angle, you know what's being written. But you've got to stay positive, regardless."
