The United States' ISIS Syria airstrikes have started. The crackdown on the members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a.k.a. ISIS or Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, was confirmed by the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Affairs saying American war planes and ship-based Tomahawk cruise missiles have made it offensives on the location of the Sunni militants, with focus on the ISIS stronghold of Raqqa. According to the opposition group Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, at least 20 targets were hit by the strike that also saw the participation of more than one Arab countries, according to CNN.
The airstrikes are expected to continue in the coming days and if you will refer to the speech made by Barack Obama at the United Nations, looks like United States' ISIS Airstrikes will be a lot stronger.
“No God condones this terror. No grievance justifies these actions. There can be no reasoning – no negotiation – with this brand of evil. The only language understood by killers like this is the language of force. So the United States of America will work with a broad coalition to dismantle this network of death.”
The American president also hinted that US is not alone on their mission to obliterate the ISIS militants from the face of the earth. He also has message to the members of the Sunni group.
“Already, over 40 nations have offered to join this coalition. Today, I ask the world to join in this effort. Those who have joined ISIL should leave the battlefield while they can. Those who continue to fight for a hateful cause will find they are increasingly alone. For we will not succumb to threats; and we will demonstrate that the future belongs to those who build – not those who destroy.”
According to Obama, United States' ISIS airstrikes are not just about making the suspects of the beheading of two American journalists pay for their crimes but also to end the ideology of Al Qaeda and ISIL. He said that keeping people away from these beliefs should be the task of the religion.
“t is the task of all great religions to accommodate devout faith with a modern, multicultural world. No children – anywhere – should be educated to hate other people. There should be no more tolerance of so-called clerics who call upon people to harm innocents because they are Jewish, Christian or Muslim. It is time for a new compact among the civilized peoples of this world to eradicate war at its most fundamental source: the corruption of young minds by violent ideology.”
