Cuddlr App Launched For People Who Want To Cuddle Strangers; Promises 'PG-rated Experiences'

| By

If you're open to the idea of meeting strangers and cuddling with them, the Cuddlr app is perfect for you.

Promising a "PG-rated experience," the sex-free Tinder-style Cuddlr app reportedly connects people who simply want to hug.

A person would need to have a Facebook account to register. The profile created in the app will contain only the person's name and photo.

The app also reportedly allows users to choose what kind of hug they would like to receive. This ensures that they get matched with a person of a similar preference.

They will be given profiles of people who are a walking distance from them and they can send them a cuddle request. The recipients have to accept or reject the offer within 15 minutes.

Once a request has been accepted, users can start locating their match using a map in the app. The decision to connect after the meeting and cuddling is up to the users. After the meeting, users can rate the cuddle as "awesome," "good" or "OK." Users can also report if the meeting was inappropriate.

"On Cuddlr, you get together straightaway, have a little cuddle, and then part ways," said app founder Charlie Williams in an interview with The Daily Mirror. "If you want to hang out again, you can exchange information then and there - but you already know what kind of cuddles they give."

"It is possible to report someone who cuddles inappropriately, and we encourage first-time pairs to do their cuddling in a public place," added Williams.

Cuddlr app, which was launched on September 11, reportedly started as a joke. But Williams and its designer Jeff Kulak saw that there was a need for it and decided to develop it.

In an interview with Salon, Williams shared how Cuddlr app is not a "backlash" to Tindr. "[It's] all about respecting and connecting, rather than looking and judging," he said.
