The Maze Runner Sequel Set To Not Follow The Book? Said To Show "More Deaths" For The Second Movie!

| By

It looks like The Maze Runner Sequel is officially good to go.

The sequel was announced by Fox after the first movie became a hit in the box office, garnering an estimated gross of thirty-two million dollars upon its premiere, and quickly breaking even with its production cost in a span of three days. Considering the rate the movie quickly earned, it's definitely looking good (financially) for everyone involved in the project.

The box office performance of the novel-turned-movie based on James Dahsner's book was even compared to that of "The Hunger Games", which also garnered a lot during its debut. The first movie is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where the main protagonist, Thomas, who was given life to by actor Dylan O'Brien, wakes up and finds himself surrounded by a group of teenagers who all welcome him to the "Glade", a mysterious place that is completely enclosed by a giant maze. They are quick to realize that the only way for them to get out of it is to solve it.

The Maze Runner Sequel, which is entitled "The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials", will be directed once again by Director Wes Ball, and rumors have it that the sequel will feature more "deaths" unlike the book. Although it is unclear and there is no confirmation yet whether the sequel will not be following the second book as much as the first movie did, fans are still ecstatic and are eager to find out more about the developments in the making of the sequel.

Reporting ahead, the possibility of a third movie is pretty much 90% already, as author James Dashner also wrote a third book, making The Maze Runner a trilogy.

The announcement for a sequel was made by 20th Century Fox via Twitter, and has already set a date of release which is on September 18, 2015.
