Kate Middleton News: Duchess of Cambridge Suffers From Severe Morning Sickness; Prince William Replaces Duchess On Her First Official Solo Overseas Trip

| By

New Kate Middleton news suggests that Malta did not have the Duchess of Cambridge at its celebration of independence, but Prince William went as her replacement instead, reports said.

According to BBC, Prince William is the last-minute replacement for the pregnant duchess due to her severe morning sickness.

The duchess is pregnant with their second baby. Due to her doctors' advice, the royal couple decided that it's best for the duchess not to push through with her first official solo overseas visit, as she "continues to suffer from the effects of Hyperemesis Gravidarum", which requires additional hydration, medication and nutrients.

Malta is celebrating its 50th anniversary from the United Kingdom on September 21, 1964.

The Duke of Cambridge on Saturday joked to the crowd during his speech: "I'm sorry you've got me instead of Catherine. She's very disappointed she couldn't be here today."

Kate Middleton news added that Prince William told Malta's President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca that his wife was feeling "so-so".

Unlike her first pregnancy in which she was attended at a private hospital, the duchess is now being treated by the palace doctors.

Earlier this month, the couple announced the duchess' second pregnancy. The second-born of the royal couple will be the fourth in line to the throne, behind the 13-month-old brother George.

"Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child. The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news," Clarence House said in a statement according to E! News.

Aside from visiting the Malta President, the Duke of Cambridge is also heading to St. John's Cathedral in Malta and to Grand Harbour for a boat tour.
