Chinese prosecutors have already given their go signal for police to arrest Jackie Chan's son suspected of allowing others to use drugs, a report said.
According to USA Today, the Dongcheng District prosecutor's office said the approval has been given for the formal arrest of actor and singer Jaycee Chan.
Reuters reported that the 32-year-old son of Jackie Chan was arrested in Beijing after he was tested positive for marijuana. Police also claimed they found 100 grams of marijuana at his home.
Prosecutors said allowing other people to use drugs bears a maximum penalty of three-year prison term.
Along with Chan detained last month is 23-year-old Taiwanese actor Ko Kai, USA Today reported.
After admitting that he was using marijuana, Ko was sentenced to be detained for 14 days in administrative detention. At a news conference after his release, Ko apologized for what he had done.
In August, Jackie, who was anointed anti-drug ambassador in 2003 in China, described his shame over the controversy his son is undergoing.
According to news.com.au, Jacke said: "As a public figure, I feel very ashamed; as his dad, I'm very sad and disappointed. But the person who feels heartbroken the most is his mum."
Although Jackie pushed his son to face the consequences of his actions, the elder Chan still supports his son for his recovery.
"I would like to take this opportunity and say to Jaycee: 'you've done something wrong and you have to be responsible for the consequences.' I'm your dad and I'll always be with you. We will face the road ahead of us together."
In June Chinese President Xi Jinping declared that illegal drugs should be wiped out and that offenders would be punished at the full extent of the law.
National associations of film actors, directors, and producers also show their willingness to clean their ranks by expelling and banning from making movies members repeatedly using drugs.
