'Wrecking Ball' Singer Miley Cyrus Might Be Twerking To Jail For Desecrating Mexican Flag? 'Bangerz' Tour Performer' Makes Fun And Mocks Mexican Flag On Independence Day, Says Lawmaker

| By

"Wrecking Ball" singer Miley Cyrus once again takes the spotlight for supposedly desecrating Mexico's three-colored flag during her tour performance in the country.

The "We Can't Stop" hit maker is shown in TMZ video twerking while her dancers slap her prosthetic butt with Mexico's flag on Tuesday, which paved way for a federal investigation, according to LA Times.

The "Bangerz" tour in Monterrey coincided with Mexico's celebration of independence day.

LA Times also reported that Mexico has laws against desecrating its flag, national seal, and national anthem.

According to CNN, any act "that implies contempt or lack of respect to the Homeland Symbols will be punished according to its severity and the condition of the offender."

A Nuevo Leon state lawmaker expressed disappointment and annoyance on Cyrus performance, telling CNN: "I felt truly offended and annoyed by the fact that a foreign artist feels like she can come here and make fun of and mock our national flag on Independence Day... She brazenly made fun of our flag."

In a report by rawstory.com, Nuevo Leon lawmaker Francisco Trevino Cabello told Mexico's local congress that "they [dancers] are hitting her with the flag, or cleaning her backside. It's a lack of respect.

"The interior ministry must sanction the singer Miley Cyrus for desecrating the flag," he said.

The local congress, the report added, voted unanimously to ask for sanctions.

According to TMZ, the crime of flag desecration bears a fine amounting to $1,200 and a jail sentence of 36 hours.

But a source of rawstory.com said "the company that brought her here would be sanctioned, not her" because the content of the concert lies on the organizer's agreement with the artist.

Mexico's local congress also asserted that authorities should monitor her upcoming shows in the country.

According to milyecyrus.com, the "Wrecking Ball" singer has two more shows in Mexico: in Mexico City and in Guadalajara.
