Mayweather-Pacquiao Fight Soon? Filipino Boxer Challenges The Undefeated Boxer Anew; 'We Can Fight Anytime, Anywhere,' Says Pacquiao; Mayweather Says He's Hopeful Pacman Is His Next Opponent in May

Would Mayweather-Pacquiao fight be happening soon? Eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao on Thursday challenges Floyd Mayweather, Jr. anew for the anticipated bout, asking the American boxer to stop "babbling" and just fight him.

Pacquiao, 35, told AFP in an interview: "He's all talk. Until now he has not yet agreed to fight me. Instead of blabbing, he should face me atop the ring,"

The pound-for-pound king also added: "I'm tired of his alibis. If he really wants to fight me, he knows how to reach me. We can fight anytime, anywhere."

Boxing fanatics have been long waiting for this would-be greatest fight. But it seems the fight is impossible as both boxers could not meet halfway when it comes to earnings split, drug testing issues, and egos.

In recent years, Pacquiao has openly talked about the possibility of the bout, but a deal between the two boxing superstars could not be reached.

Mayweather, the report added, denied he is avoiding Pacquiao to protect his flawless record of 47 wins, but he stressed that a bout with the Filipino boxer should be on his terms.

In a report by ESPN UK, Mayweather gave two conditions for the bout to happen.

"If the Pacquiao fight does happen it has to happen on Showtime pay-per-view only and Mayweather Promotions have to do the fight," adding that he is hopeful that Pacquiao would be his next opponent in May after his vacation.

Adding to the equation of pressure is former World Heavyweight Champion Evander Holyfield who challenged Mayweather to fight Pacquiao.

"If Floyd retires without doing the super fight with Manny Pacquiao then I wouldn't think of him as a champion. Champions accept any fight put in front of them. But if Mayweather does the fight - win or lose - he will be an all time great and a true champion in my book. And I am sure he would have all the respect from all boxing fans around the world. And he would silence all the critics. But retiring without doing this dream fight that fans have wanted to see for a very long time would be ridiculous," Holyfield wrote on his Facebook account.

Pacquiao, who has 56 wins, 5 losses, and two draws, is set to defend his World Boxing Organization welterweight title against undefeated American boxer Chris Algieri, 30. The bout will take place in Macau in November.

Eight-division world champion Pacquiao said he would not underestimate Algieri.

"I'm not taking Algieri lightly. He's taller than me and moves around the ring with savvy. That's why I started my training early," Pacquiao said.

Mayweather has retained his World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association welterweight titles against Marcos Maidana in a rematch.

Pacquiao also has a take on Mayweather's retention of boxing titles against Marcos Maidana in a rematch a week ago.

"To me, Maidana won that fight. Mayweather's face and lips were swelling compared to Maidana's unblemished face," Pacquiao told AFP.
