San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was fined for using inappropriate language, while the Minnesota Vikings suspended Adrian Peterson indefinitely, multiple NFL news and rumors update confirmed.
The league handed an $11,025 fine to Kaepernick for unsportsmanlike conduct after reportedly uttering foul language into Lamarr Houston during the 49ers' 28-20 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
Kaepernick, who completed 37-of-57 passes for 449 yards in the first two games this season, said that they he will lodge an appeal.
The 26-year-old star quarterback reiterated that he did not say anything during the match, and that Houston even confirmed that he did not hear anything inappropriate from him during their exchange of words on Sunday.
"It will be appealed," Kaepernick said in an NFL news and rumors update on ESPN. "The player that I supposedly said something to has been quoted saying I didn't say anything. And I don't know him, so it's not like he would have a reason to just randomly stick up for me."
49ers coach Jim Harbaugh declined to comment on the situation, saying that he might get fined by the league as well, but he expressed support to Kaepernick.
"I'm not speaking on that, or I'll get another fine," Harbaugh said in jest. "Because I don't know. I didn't hear it. But Colin's always been truthful 100 percent of the time."
Meanwhile, in another NFL news and rumors update, the Vikings reconsidered their decision to play Adrian Peterson in their week 3 match against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
In a statement, Vikings owner Mark Wilf and Zygi Wilf announced that Peterson will be barred from participating in all team activities until the resolution of his child abuse case.
"While we were trying to make a balanced decision yesterday, after further reflection we have concluded that this resolution is best for the Vikings and for Adrian," the Wilf brothers said in a statement. "We want to be clear: we have a strong stance regarding the protection and welfare of children, and we want to be sure we get this right."
Peterson is facing child abuse charges for allegedly using switch to discipline his son. Recent reports indicated that the running back also had a similar case in 2013, but no charges were filed.
