Arrow Season 3 will expand its growing characters. Expect new villains and characters in the upcoming season, and new love interests might blossom too.
At the Montreal ComicCon event lead star Stephen Amell teased about how the upcoming season might start.
"We start off the third season...it was always the idea of the producers that..you know how in James Bond movies they start off with a big action sequence that isn't directly tied into the plot of that particular movie? It's just to establish that we are watching an action film, and it's James Bond and he does James Bond stuff," said Amell. "We start off the third season with a gigantic action set piece. You've seen pieces of it in the preview for Season 3, and it is myself, Diggle, Roy, and his whole costume. And then of course Felicity at the helm. And it's just all of us kicking ass. And it's good."
He added, "And I will tell you that, I've got one for you, in the premiere of Arrow , me, dressed in a suit as Oliver Queen beats up the Arrow. What? It will make sense when you see it."
We'll be seeing new faces in the upcoming season like Superman Returns star Brandon Routh who'll play as Ray Palmer and will be Felicity Smoak's love interest later on.
Executive producer Marc Guggenheim shared some information to TVLine about Ray Palmer's character in Queens Consolidated and in Starling City.
"Ray is a businessman instead of a professor, more of an entrepreneur," he said. As for the Atom part of his personality, "Part of the fun is seeing how, or even if , a character reaches the end of that trajectory," Guggenheim teased, "because as we've proven, we like to play around with it a bit."
Season 3 will continue as Diggles will be a father to a baby girl. Thea will have a new love interest, Chase, played by The Carrie Diaries star Austin Butler.
"Supernatural" album Carrie Cutter is also reported to join the cast as Cupid for the upcoming episodes.
Andrew Kreisberg show's executive producer created the character for the Green Arrow / Black Canary comic book series. "I always loved the idea of Green Arrow having a crazed fan," Kreisberg told EW.
"When I was writing the comic book, my big goal was to create a villain who would last. Cupid has since appeared in the DC Nation shorts on Cartoon Network, and to have her fight our TV Arrow is so much more than I ever could have hoped for the character."
Episode 5, "The Secret Origins of Felicity Smoak.", was also reported to focus on Felicity's past that will introduce her mother.
'Arrow' Season 3 premieres on Wednesday, October 8.
