Floyd Mayweather has recently concluded yet another match victory. This time, with opponent Marcos Maidana.
According to sbnation,
"Floyd Mayweather's rematch with Marcos Maidana played out in the way most expected, with Mayweather taking a decision as he played it smart defensively and didn't allow Maidana to get in extended offensive flurries against the ropes.
With the unanimous decision victory, fans are left wondering 'what now?' for boxing's pound-for-pound king.
The answer seems to be a return trip to the ring in May--Floyd fights around Cinco de Mayo weekend and Mexican Independence Day weekend and only those dates--and likely against Amir Khan or Miguel Cotto.
Khan is on a three-fight win streak since dropping a decision to Lamont Peterson and getting TKO'ed by Danny Garcia. He's a big name and that's what Floyd needs. There are some who think his hand speed could give Mayweather fits, but his chin is a big liability. Still, Mayweather vs. Khan would draw, and Khan does have some skills.
The other strong possibility is a rematch with Miguel Cotto. Cotto gave a good fight the first time around, really making Floyd earn his victory. He would go on to drop a fight to Austin Trout, but has revived his career by destroying Delvin Rodriguez and then putting a serious beating on Sergio Martinez.
Either fight would be one Floyd is favored to win, and both would be against fighters with strong fanbases. So they both have appeal on multiple fronts for Mayweather.
We'll see if a new challenger can emerge in the next few months, but I sincerely doubt that there's any chance Floyd fights Manny Pacquiao."
Although Pacquiao has repeatedly expressed his interest and willingness to fight Mayweather, it seems that Mayweather is just too scared to fight the Filipino boxer, despite Manny's recent defeats. Fans are still convinced that Floyd will never allow Pacquiao to fight him, merely because he knows that there's a possibility for his to lose, and he just can't take that.
