Is Taylor Swift’s new song “Bad Blood” about Katy Perry?
A new feud is boiling in Hollywood and it’s none other than a rift between Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Taylor Swift opened up about a fellow female artist whom she is ‘straight-up enemies’ with.
“She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?” Swift told the magazine. “(Then last year) she did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ - and it wasn’t even about a guy!”
News and rumors started to fly around on who was the unnamed female artist but after Swift’s interview went viral online, Katy Perry tweeted “Watch out for Regina George in sheep’s clothing...” which only added fuel to the fire of speculations that Swift’s song “Bad Blood” is about Perry.
“Instead, it had to do with business,” Swift said in her interview. “She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational—you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”
According to Yahoo News, AU, Australian Lockhart Brownlie already knew that Taylor Swift’s rival was Katy Perry. In an interview with The Examiner last December, Brownlie - a back up dancer, spoke about working for the two stars.
"I was with Taylor for the first six months (of 2013). It was a great experience and she's a great person to work with, but then Katy contacted us," he said.
"Obviously we were with Katy for 2 1/2 years, she's like family to us, so we were, like, ‘absolutely’.” Brownlie said. "We weren't really dancing in Taylor's tour anyway so I had got a little bored and I really wanted to do a promo tour."
The back-up dancer also mentioned that working for the two stars were very different. He described Taylor as very ‘untouchable’ while Katy Perry’s team was seen as ‘lovely’ and they made a good connection with the other staff and performers. “She was a lot more in control” he added.
