Apple finally unveiled its most anticipated wearable device the Apple Watch at its event at Cupertino.

According to TechCrunch the Apple Watch Gold Edition was could cost $1,200.

The tech site consulted to a jeweler and quoted from the their site.

"Chad Rickicki, a watch expert in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania said that a case the size and shape of the Apple Watch in 18 carat gold would cost about $600 to make. The rest -- the electronics and markup could double that price. That doesn't mean that all of the Apple Watches will rest in the rarified air of haute horlogerie. The lower end sport versions will start at $349 and presumably the standard versions, simply called Apple Watch, will receive a premium over that."

"The Edition watches, however, are expensive because gold is expensive, even at 18K and intermixed with Apple's alloys."

It was suggested that Apple's wearable device comes in different array to target the different markets. Apple Sport will be its entry level that will cost $349, Apple Edition for the luxury market and Apple Watch will be the affordable than Apple Edition.

There were also reports that Sir Jonathan Ive, Apple's design chief, boasted to colleagues that the Swiss are in trouble.

What does this mean? The Apple Watch will be a competitor of Swiss watches?

"It looks a little cold, and lacks, for my taste, a bit of personality," said Jean-Claude Biver, a legendary Swisswatch maker.

Sounds like a battle between the wearable device and Swiss watches.

Let's just wait until Apple starts shipping its wearable device if reports are true that the Apple Gold Edition. This device will definitely cost an arm and a leg.
