Apple OS X Yosemite Release Date On 2014: Next Desktop Operating System Introduces New ‘Handoff’, Enhanced Calls, Messaging and Hotspot

| By

Power, simplicity and beauty are embodied in the upcoming Apple operating system OS X Yosemite. Release date is set for 2014.

Inspired by the iOS 7, the creation of OS X Yosemite was announced early in June 2012 during the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. Yosemite follows its predecessor's landmark-based scheme, as OS X Mavericks.

Not only does OS X Yosemite follow the naming scheme of the previous OS, but it also demonstrates continuity from the Mac systems. This means that OS X Yosemite is more integrated than any other Mac operating systems available. It could be connected easily with the iCloud and iOS. Apple calls this the "Handoff" function.

The Handoff feature allows users to switch between devices - from iphones, iPads and via the iCloud - easily from where the users left off. This increases the productivity among the users' Apple devices that use applications like Numbers, Mail, Pages and Safari. And thus, making syncing quite easy.

Apple explains the idea behind OS X Yosemite on its official site saying, "Thoughtfully redesigning OS X meant going deep into every aspect of the interface like focusing on details large and small. There are obvious changes to big things, like translucency in windows and streamlined toolbars. And there are more subtle changes in a lot of small things, like the buttons, icon and font you see throughout the system."

Other updates to the OS X Yosemite include text messages to be received directly from the desktop and tethering is made easier from your MacBooks.

OS X Yosemite release date information is explained by Wire Magazine, "Apple's latest desktop operating system, OS X Yosemite, won't officially come out until sometime this fall. But now that its public beta is open, both developers and a large number of Mac owners are able to use a preview version of the landmark OS."
