ABC released "Grey's Anatomy" season 11 spoilers showing Meredith after she loses Cristina. The also showed her struggling with her marriage and her meeting with a new half-sister.
Grey's Anatomy" season 11 published in a report from TV Line claimed that series writer Shonda Rhimes revealed that this new season will center on Meredith.
"It's really a Meredith-centric season," Rhimes said. "She's lost her 'person,' her [half-]sister has shown up, her husband is chafing to go someplace else..."
International Business Times in an article said that the first episode of this new season is "expected to be a high-on-drama segment. Fans must brace themselves for lots of action and emotions when the show returns."
According to the "Grey's Anatomy" season 11 spoilers and synopsis, Meredith was still reeling from Cristina's sudden exit and is also trying to put her foot down in the decision to stay in Seattle, despite Derek's goal to chase his career in a new state.
Trailers have also revealed Meredith in Alex's arms-- but according to Bustle, this wont actually mean any romance.
"Of course, it's unlikely Meredith and Alex are starting an actual affair of any kind; the deep, evolving friendship between the two has been one of Grey's greatest storylines, and it's hard to imagine that ever changing."
But, as writer Rhimes shared "Grey's Anatomy" season 11 spoilers in an interview with TV Line last August, the budding closeness between Alex and Meredith would definitely have an impact on Alex's relationship with Jo.
"Jo is going to be horrified to discover how much time Alex is going to be spending with Meredith and how much time Meredith is going to be spending [at their] house."
But this sudden closeness did not just happen without any reason, as Rhimes explained,"Alex feels responsible for her. He feels like Cristina didn't just leave him a seat on the board and the shares, she left him Meredith as well."
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 11 spoilers have revealed that the series will also introduce a new member of the team, Maggie Pierce, a cardiothoracic surgeon. Portrayed by Kelly McCreary, Maggie is apparently Meredith's half-sister; the fruit of romance of Richard and Ellis.
This season will also be filled with tension as Alex and Bailey become rivals. When Cristina left her chair in the board of directors to her friend, Alex, Bailey decided to fight Alex for the position.
"Grey's Anatomy" season 11 returns to ABC on September 25.
