Paul George News: Indiana Pacers Star Apologizes For Offensive Twitter Post On Domestic Violence

| By

Paul George news indicated that the Indiana Pacers superstar apologized for a controversial post on Twitter about the domestic violence case involving Ray Rice.

George took to Twitter to express support to Ray Rice, who was recently suspended indefinitely and was released by the Baltimore Ravens after videos of him hitting his then-fiancée went viral online.

In a post on the popular social networking website, George said: "I don't condone hittin women or think it's coo BUT if SHE ain't trippin then I ain't trippin.. Lets keep it movin lol let that man play."

George's Twitter post created a massive uproar online with most people criticizing the Pacers forward for his view on violence against women, which led to him deleting the controversial post.

The 24-year-old forward then clarified his tweet in a Paul George news on ESPN, saying that he doesn't condone domestic violence because it is "not cool" to hit women.

"It's not cool to hit women I know that," the All-Star forward said in a Paul George news. "And that's not what I'm saying I would never condone that. I was originally just trying to say if we gone come down hard on Ray Rice come down hard on all crime."

Pacers president of basketball operations Larry Bird also expressed disappointment over George's Twitter post, saying that they have already talk to the injured superstar about the issue.

"Paul George's tweets from earlier were thoughtless and without regard to the subject of domestic violence and its seriousness in society," Bird said in a statement. "We have talked to Paul to strongly express our displeasure and made it clear that the NBA and the Pacers' organization will not condone or tolerate remarks of this nature. Paul understands that he was wrong and why his tweets were so inappropriate and is very apologetic."

In the same team statement posted on NBA.com, George, who is currently recovering from a horrific leg injury, also issued another apology.

"I want to apologize to all victims of domestic abuse for my insensitive tweets. They were obviously without proper understanding of the seriousness of the situation and I sincerely regret my poor choice of words," George said.
