After living a hermitic lifestyle since the disband of Silverchair, Daniel Johns sets foot outside sunny streets with girlfriend in tow, taking a break from making his music.
Australian musician, known for his guitar skills and the rock band Silverchair, Daniel Johns is finally seen outside, walking on sidewalks, waiting by train stations-basically, allowing people to see him and his girlfriend. Filipino fashion designer/blogger Estelita Huijer has been with Johns since last year.
In 2011 Silverchair, Daniel Johns announced that they were taking time off from the band and practically doing their own thing, in short, disbanding. In their official press release, they mentioned: "We've decided to put the band into 'a deep sleep' while we all do other things that we find more inspiring right now. This means that Silverchair won't be making music together or playing shows any time soon. It also means that the three of us won't be working together unless and until it feels right again."
After the announcement of Silverchair disbanding, Daniel Johns, continued writing his music and collaborations including the 3rd album for "The Veronicas". In 2013, rumors of Johns' solo album surfaced and created buzz online, with his manager quoted by Themusic.com saying "it's looking extremely likely that it'll be out by next year."
Early in 2014, Silverchair Daniel Johns confirmed that there is indeed a solo album in the works. Through his Facebook page he announces, "I've been super busy in the studio this year and I'm happy to say that I can start sharing some of the music I've been making early in the new year."
He has been working with Joel Little, the man behind Lorde's "Royals" since late 2013. Little interviewed by Billboard saying, "been doing some writing with Daniel Johns from Silverchair. He's working on his solo record." Musicfeeds.com reports that the two are working on materials originally slated for the next Silverchair album.
