The Hollywood Reported confirmed that Televisa USA has acquired TV and digital rights to Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty Trilogy. Long before Fifty Shades of Grey, these novels from the Queen of the Damned writer was the most talked about erotic novel back in 1980s. It was a commercial success and have built a strong cult following. Now, after finding a distribution company, it looks like we'll get to see Sleeping Beauty and her Prince doing their thing on the tube.
Anne Rice Sleeping Beauty Trilogy is BDSM that comprises The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, Beauty's Punishment and Beauty's Release. Set in a medieval fantasy world, the series is loosely based on the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty who was caught up in a world of sexual adventures.
"Now is the perfect moment for this project," said Televisa CCO Michael Garcia, who made the announcement with managing director Paul Presburger.
"On the heels of such boundary-pushing adaptations as 'Fifty Shades' and HBO's 'Game of Thrones,' the topics explored in this series are in the zeitgeist and we feel television is finally ready for them. We are now going out to writers and talent, and will put all the creative, production and distribution elements in place quickly."
