UPDATE:
As lifted from screenrant,
"In an interview last week with Digital Spy - as part of his promotional tour for Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Samuel L. Jackson revealed that his character from the first movie, Lucius Best/Frozone (whose super-power allows him to freeze water and moisture) will be included in the proceedings:
'Every time I run into Brad [Bird, director] he always tells me Frozone is part of what's going on [in the sequel], so I have to believe that. I guess they could be the Incredibles without Frozone, but I think Frozone would be a wonderful addition to what's already there.'
Jackson then added, 'I'm just looking forward to seeing what Jack-Jack turned into,' in reference to the youngest member of the Incredibles clan who, during the original movie's conclusion and in the spinoff short 'Jack-Jack Attack', was revealed to posses a rather strange (and non-specific) collection of super-abilities."
Disney confirmed that indeed there will be a sequel for the superhero-family animated movie, and it is already in the works. This confirmation happened during Disney's Investor's meeting held last March 18, 2014 by Disney President Bob Iger.
The director for the first film, Brad Bird is set to again direct and write the sequel, which will surely be a hit to kids and kids at heart. Initially, it was reported that Bird was having second thoughts on whether he would make a sequel or not.
"Pixar does not look at sequels as a financial plan. We feel we have a relationship with the audience and that they believe in each movie we put out. We believe completely in every movie we put out." Bird told sources.
"If I can come up with a story that is as good or better than that first film, then I'd love to return to that world, but it would to be story first."
Speculations of the main villain for the sequel have been circling the internet. Many have been saying that perhaps the antagonist for this upcoming movie will be someone who has been involved with Mr. Incredible's previous life, a former friend who turned positivity into negativity, that eventually consumes him/her and makes him/her Mr. Incredible's greatest foe yet. Fans are also hoping to see different sub-villains, each having their own opponent from the Incredible family.
3D Director, Josh Hollander, hinted release dates to be sooner than fans think, saying: "Right now, we're working on The Incredibles, which is a lot of fun in 3D. I'm not sure what the release strategy for it will be. It's been an interesting challenge to work on technology because - while the film was released 10 years ago - the technology is even older as it took four years to make.
As to rumors of the actual release date. There have been reports that the release date will be on December 23, 2015-just in time for Christmas with the family.
