Want to land that job badly? Do not worry. We have laid out some tips below on what to do to have a successful interview:
Arrive fifteen minutes before the interview. You want to make a good impression and being on time signals that you're a punctual person.
Wear appropriate and professional clothes. Depending on the field you want to be interviewed in, make sure you wear appropriate clothes. You should look tidy, smart and dressed for success. Do not in any way attempt to go to an interview in, let's say, the financial industry wearing mini skirt and your favorite sneaker.
Make a firm handshake with the interviewer. Believe it or not, a firm handshake never fails to impress potential employers. They associate a firm handshake with confident personality. First impression lasts and this will set the tone for the entire interview.
Research about the company you're interviewing with. Make sure you have all the important information about the company you want to work with. Try to let them feel that you're aware of what's happening in their industry and that you hae some idea about the job description you would want to fill in. Do not ask them questions like, "What does the company do?" or "Who is the owner of this company?"
Prepare to answer routine questions. Most companies will ask you your background - educational and work experience. The important thing is to know how you will answer it. The might ask about your grades in school, what organizations you affiliated with, why do you want to transfer to another company, etc. You should always have an answer ready for all those questions to avoid having to stir yor memory up at that moment. Companies want to ensure that they are going to employ the best possible employee so avoid having them doubting your skills. Another important question that most companies ask is "What are your strengths and weaknesses?" There are several possible answers but what most companies are looking for is how you deal with your weakness and make it your strength. For example, you can say, "I am a workaholic so I try my best to make sure I finish everything in the office before I go home." or "I am a perfectionist so I make sure every time I do a report, it's going to come out as immaculate."
Make sure you sell yourself to the company. If they do want you, you will be in the position to haggle for a better salary and benefits.
