FIBA World Cup 2014 Results & Highlights showed how Team USA imposed their dominance in the quarterfinals of the world spectacle, scoring a 119-76 blowout win against Slovenia at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona.
Slovenia managed to stay within striking distance in the first half that ended with Team USA on top by just seven points, but the Americans flexed their muscle in the second half.
USA, the favorite to win the title this year, outscored Slovenia 37-22 in the third period then scored 33 in the final period, while limiting their European foe to just 12 points en route to the win.
"We just stick to the program. We know it's tough for any team to run with us for 40 minutes because of how deep we are and how hard we work on the floor," USA point guard said in a FIBA World Cup 2014 results & highlights update on ESPN. "I think we understand we didn't make many shots in the first half but our defense was pretty solid and if we kept the pressure on them, things would open up."
Klay Thompson led Team USA with 20 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field with four three-pointers, while James Harden and Kenneth Faried added 14 points apiece with the latter racking up 10 rebounds.
With the win, Team USA advanced to the semifinals where they will go up against Lithuania, who scored a 73-61 win against Turkey in their quarterfinal match.
Leading by three points heading into the final 10 minutes, Lithuania had a huge surge in the fourth period to pull away from with Renald Seibutis scoring 11 minutes in the quarter, giving his team a chance to win a medal in this year's World Cup.
Jonas Valanciunas had another solid game for Lithuania as he finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Seibutis led his team in scoring with 19 points. Martynas Pocius added 13 points, while Darjus Lavrinovic had 11 points and five rebounds on Tuesday.
