"How I Met Your Mother" star shares with his fans the news of his lifetime. Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were married in Italy over the weekend.
Neil Patrick Harris, 41, is known first and foremost for his role in the 1990's series "Doogie Howser M.D." as the main character. Although his star shone a little bit lighter after "Doogie Howser M.D.", Neil Patrick Harris slowly re-entered the limelight as "How I Met Your Mother" began in 2005.
In 2006, Neil Patrick Harris confirmed that he is gay. Sharing with People he said, "I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love."
His now other half, David Burtka, 39, is a broadway actor who left the stage in pursuit of his dream to wear a chef's hat. Although he won a Clarence Derwent Award for his role in Edward Albee's "The Play About the Baby" in 2001, he pursued culinary arts and graduated from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Pasadena in 2009.
In 2007, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka announced they were a couple of three years as they attended the Emmy Awards together. In 2010, Neil Patrick Harris announced via Twitter, "So, get this: David and I are expecting twins this fall. We're super excited/nervous/thrilled. Hoping the press can respect our privacy."
Early this month, Neil Patrick Harris again takes it to Twitter. After 10 years together, he announces the good news: "Guess what? @DavidBurtka and I got married over the weekend. In Italy. Yup, we put the 'n' and 'd' in husband."
