To those who long to see more insane dribbling at an insane speed, you might see it again as your favorite Barcelona is set to make a return according to the Spanish club. Barca said on a new Lionel Messi Injury update that the Argentinean forward could make a return in team's La Liga match with Athletic Bilbao.
The statement read:
"The Argentina national team doctor, Daniel Martínez, and others from the FCB Medical Services have evaluated the groin strain sustained by Leo Messi during last weekend's league fixture away to Villarreal. Both parties agreed that there have been considerable improvements, and the player will continue doing specific recovery exercises until he is ready to resume normal training with the rest of his team-mates."
There has been doubts regarding Lionel Messi injury, with some accusing him of faking his injury so he won't be able to play for Argentina's friendly match with Germany. His team eventually won that game through the heroics of Angel di Maria.
Gerardo Martino, his former coach at Barcelona and current Argentina manager addresed this rumours before their friendly against the recently world champions.
"When you get the chance to coach a footballer like Leo it's very difficult to be exempt from comments and rumours," he said.
"In our time together at Barcelona, it was said he was saving himself for the World Cup. But in La Liga he scored about 30 goals.
"There were always questions about Leo, if he scored three goals then why had he scored three goals? If he scored one, then why had he only scored one? And if didn't score at all, it was the same."
When Messi returns this weekend versus Athletic Bilbao, he will only need two more goals to reach the 400 goal mark. According to the Daily Mail, "Messi is on his verge of scoring his 400th goal for both club and country when Barcelona face Athletic Bilbao on Saturday."
"Despite being only 27-years-old, the phenomenal forward has already amassed 398 goals - with Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo claiming with 'On Saturday against Athletic he can reach a figure only within reach of a genius'.
Messi has scored 356 goals for Barcelona and 42 for Argentina, including four in taking his country to the World Cup final where he was controversially named the best player at the tournament."
