‘The Last Ship’ Season 2 Renewal Finalized; Fans Await 13 New Episodes For The High-Rating Show

TNT cable network has "The Last Ship" Season 2 renewal finalized, as fans await 13 news episodes for the high-rating show, now that the plot of season 1 brought them back to the United States.

For "The Last Ship" season 2 renewal, The Epoch Times reported that the cable network "has ordered 13 episodes" of the show, three more episodes compared to the total number of episodes in the first season.

Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, in The Epoch Times also said that "'The Last Ship' has become this summer's top drama among key adult demos with its epic scale and visceral storytelling."

The series garnered top ratings, with its first four episodes averaging a whopping 4.66 million viewers every week and a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic, according to reports from TV Series Finale.

With "The Last Ship" season 2 renewal, a lot of fans are expecting a lot more action-packed drama every Sunday. Still leading the cast is Eric Dane from "Grey's Anatomy" fame, and produced by blockbuster director Michael Bay of "Transformers."

"The Last Ship" tells of the story of how the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James tried to discover a cure for a very fatal virus that threatened to kill all human beings on earth. Now, as the crew evades being a part of a global catastrophe that more or less ended the world, Captain Tom Chandler (Dane), together with his crew, is now faced with the challenge of living in a new world.

The action-drama series also features the acting prowess of Rhona Mitra who plays Rachel Scott, a stubborn yet intelligent and brave paleomicrobiologist and Adam Baldwin as Ex-O Mike Slattery, Chandler's second-in-command and a an ex-homicide detective. Completing the cast of 'The Last Ship' are Charles Parnell, Travis Van Winkle, Sam Spruell, Christina Elmore and Marissa Neitling.

"The Last Ship" is based from a popular novel written by William Brinkley.
