The Pacquiao vs Algieri fight on November 22 is all set in Macau with the two boxers making round of promotional tours. Yet, to go against Mayweather is still a dream he wants to become possible.
In his interview with The Associated Press, the boxer-cum-Philippine congressman said a match with Mayweather , "is the fight fans want in their hearts. If that fight happens, fine. If not, fine - what I have done in my boxing career already has satisfied me. What I will be disappointed if that does not happen is because that is what the fans want. My concern is the concern of the fans, and the fans want that fight."
Pacquiao, whose charm endeared him not just to Filipinos but delighted other boxing fans worldwide as well, wants to fulfill this dream and he keeping his body and spirits always on top condition should Mayweather finally yields to the challenge.
In the same AP report, Top Rank boxing promoter Bob Arum already claimed the Pacquiao-Mayweather match as highly probable with cable networks concerned, HBO and Showtime, reaching an agreement to make it happen. And the decision, he said, is now left to Mayweather.
"Floyd is scared to lose the zero," says Arum, referring to Mayweather's 46-0 record. "Believe me, if he lost the zero, he'd be on the plane (the next day) to make the fight, no question."
Mayweather has been a favorite pick of the boxing fans to pit against Pacquiao because of his rugged style in the ring and undefeated record. He made the challenge more interesting when he gamely engages in word war against the Pacquiao camp to taunt the Filipino boxer.
Going back to the Pacquiao-Algiery fight on November 22, 2014 in Macau, both boxers have been exchanging mutually pleasant remarks about each other. Pacquiao said he is impressed with Algieri, who he said is also "undefeated and a world champion."
In response, Algieri said, "I grew up looking up to other fighters...Manny is a classy champion, a gentleman and a warrior. I kind of walk in those shoes. Professionals who show class as Manny are a testament to the sport."
