Dwayne Johnson News: ‘The Rock’ Confirms ‘Shazam’ Movie Role, Reveals He'll Play The Villain As Black Adam! Johnson To Produce Film With Hiram Garcia

After much speculation online about which role "The Rock" will choose to play in the upcoming "Shazam" movie, finally Dwayne Johnson news reports that the actor has officially fallen to the dark side.

Initially known as a WWF/WWE wrestler and known previously as "The Rock", Dwayne Johnson has been a household name in action-comedy movies. Previously casted as a tough-guy with a soft spot in movies such as "Race to Witch Mountain" (2009) and "Tooth Fairy" (2010), Johnson has since been recognized as a more serious martial artist and action star.

"G.I. Joe: Retaliation" (2013), "Pain & Gain" (2013) and the last two installments of the "Fast & the Furious" franchise has allowed Johnson into the more-serious-actor category, dealing with more complicated roles.

In earlier reports on "Shazam" movie, Johnson confirmed that he would be part of "Shazam" in his interview with The Associated Press. However, Dwayne Johnson is still unsure which character to play. Although Shazam is the lead character, Johnson expresses his fondness for the villain.

Previous news on "Shazam" movie also included Johnson dropping hints with Total Film Magazine saying, "There's a character out there that we're gonna announce very soon that I'm gonna play, and I'll just say this-it's the power of Superman."

Recent developments on Dwayne Johnson news reveal that the actor finally has decided on which character to assume in the "Shazam" movie.

Dwayne Johnson news online shows that the actor finally has made up his mind on playing the villain instead of the superhero in the "Shazam" movie. Released via Twitter, the actor posted in September 3: " 'Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot.' My honor to become...#BlackAdam #TheAntiHero #DCCOmics".

Black Adam is another DC Comics super villain, who plays the primary adversary to Shazam, also known as Captain Marvel.

Release date for "Shazam" movie has yet to be revealed. However, after the Dwayne Johnson news, Variety releases information on Darren Lemke as writer for the film adaptation, and Hiram Garcia with Johnson himself as producers.
